The Frankston Blues basketball club are pleased to announce the return of Point Guard Jake MacAulay and Centre Matt Turner for the Carrum Downs Community Bank Blues in season 2016.
Both players return motivated to make season 2016 a year which the Blues return to the play-offs with multiple signings already announced for the Blues with former Junior Blue MacAulay saying “with last season in the past, I am more motivated and excited to bounce back and begin preseason with our new senior group. I think our preparation and commitment to each other is the key to being successful in the upcoming season. I am eager to play under Grant this season as he is highly respected coach at both state and national level” MacAulay said.
Standing six (6) feet ten (10) inches tall, “Mack truck” Turner is one of the South East Australian Basketball League’s (SEABL) more imposing figures on the court and has become a fan favourite at the Blues, something which isn’t lost on Matty. “I am looking forward to playing with Frankston again this season and especially playing in front of the Blues fans who are hands down the best supporters in the league. I am very excited about working with Grant and the new system of play” Turner said.
Head Coach Grant Wallace said both MacAulay and Turner are great signings for the club as it provides the intangibles the team is looking for with a younger group taking the floor in season 2016. “Jake and Matt offer us great experience and depth to our roster. Jake the athletic, quick floor general and Matt the big bodied, smart post player. After indifferent 2015 season’s both are working hard to turn the Club’s on-court performances around" Wallace said.
Frankston Blues High Performance Manager believes both players will play key roles in turning around the Blues fortunes in season 2016. “Jake will be a sparkplug off the bench who can change the tempo of the game with his speed at both ends of the floor.” Blackley said.
“Matt who finished off the 2015 season in great form will look to carry that into the 2016 season. Both Jake and Matt are great ambassadors for the club and are actively involved in our camps and academy programs” Blackley said.
With pre-season training currently underway, both MacAulay & Turner have been working closely with Blues strength & conditioning partners CrossFit Seaford with the benefits being noticed by both athletes in getting in peak conditioning coming into an all-important pre-season for both athletes to make season 2016 a play-off season for the Blues.
With pre-season officially commenced, more news will follow regarding further exciting Frankston Blues signings for season 2016 and planned pre-season practice matches. See www.bluesbasketball.net.au for all your Blues news.
